Under the new coaching structure every coach, regardless of their background is responsible for completing the following requirements in order to have an “active” standing with USA Rugby. If you want guaranteed liability coverage than your team needs to be considered “in compliance”. Having a registered and “active” coach is one of the 3 requirements for a team to be considered “in compliance”.
A coach is considered “active” for the membership cycle when they complete the following (for detailed instructions on how to complete, click here):
(Note: These are the minimum requirements in order to be in compliance with USA Rugby regulations. Please be sure to contact your local governing body (SRO, GU, Collegiate Conference etc.) to make sure you are in compliance with any locally enforced regulations)
Coaches are responsible for annually maintaining their “active” coaching status. Every team requires an “active” coach in order to be considered “in compliance.” You can maintain “active” status by annually completing 10 Professional Development Credits.
USA Rugby has mandated that EVERY coach complete at least 10 PDC's every season in order to maintain their active status. To find a listing of professional development courses and opportunities, please click here:

USA Rugby has partnered with the RugbySite to offer you world class coaching, player and fan education. All the details of pricing etc are https://www.therugbysite.com/usa-rugby - coaches can sign-up to the site at this address for $75 each or if a club or school would like to purchase multiple licenses, it will be $50 per coach.

USA Rugby requires all Coaches to register directly through their registration system. The most accurate information for your coaching certification status can be found the USAR Registration system once you complete your registration for the new rugby season.
