Mission and Vision

Our Mission

“Rugby Michigan drives the growth of clubs that provide opportunity and encourages our youth to play and live with Character, Unity and Endurance through the sport of rugby and into their adult lives.”

Our Vision

“Rugby Michigan will transform the Michigan amateur athletic landscape by providing ample opportunities for all youth to participate and excel in the sport of rugby.”

Character, Unity, Endurance (C.U.E.)

Rugby Michigan will promote Character, Unity, and Endurance (C.U.E.) first to it’s coaches, who in turn will teach their respective staff and players the importance of the life skills that are inherent in the sport of Rugby.

These are the things we hold to and teach on the field and as a way of life:

1.            Character – will be taught as a choice when facing difficulty or adversity – the participant can choose to respond to loss, referee decision, adversity, weakness, etc. with positive or negative character traits. We will promote positive worldview character traits such as: adaptability, courage, decisiveness, loyalty to laws of game and life, self-confidence and selflessness with humbleness.

2.            Unity – is inherent in the game of Rugby and life… It is 15 as one, It is what a good supervisor promotes, what a good employee adheres to, a good small business owner desires, what a team leader or member on a production line strive for… This is the key to Rugby and good society. We will promote the goal of working together as a unified group of individuals with a common goal and emphasize this in our practice, matches and off field contact with each other.

3.            Endurance – is essential to both the sport of Rugby and the healthiness and attitude that promotes a lifestyle choice that is important for a productive member of society. Physical and mental endurance are recognized as one of the most important parts of the sport of Rugby. We will promote the trait of endurance and emphasize this in our practice, matches and off field contact with each other
